“Help wherever you can; everyone has different strengths, so find out what yours are and use that to contribute to the community in your own way.”
Karen Merk, an award- winning York Region Photographer created a unique photographic presentation designed to celebrate leaders in our community who contribute generously to others. Portraits of Giving has been highlighting the special efforts of leaders in nine municipalities of York region for the last seven years. 2017 marks the eighth year, and we are pleased to announce that our very own Anna and Peter Eliopoulos have been nominated by the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce!
An excerpt from the event’s program:
“ Their most memorable moment of giving back occurred in 1988. Through the opening of their first restaurant in York Region, they made connections with the popular soap opera, The Young and the Restless. At the peak of show’s fame, Anna and Peter arranged for the cast to attend events they hosted. They donated their time, clothing, scripts, and props for auction. All proceeds went to various charities in York Region. This became an annual event for many years with a large following.” – IC Publishing
Moving forward, Anna and Peter hope to develop a youth program for underprivileged children who have an interest in the arts and entertainment industry. They continue to support a multitude of charities and foundations like Sick Kids (A Night to Remember) and Humber River Hospital (Million Dollar Challenge) along with the Venetian Ball, Greek Heritage Foundation and a Walk to End Breast Cancer.
A true inspiration to our community, Anna and Peter hope to encourage others to give back by understanding that it is not how much you can give financially but more importantly, through our participation and effort in reaching out.
